Upcoming Reliable Recalls Workshop

Does your dog come to you when you call him? What if another playful dog, or a fluffy squirrel, was running nearby? Does he dance just out of reach when it is time to head home from the dog park? Does he sheepishly walk towards you, or does he come running at a full sprint when called? If your dog’s recall is anything other than fast and reliable – 100% of the time – then this workshop is for you! You will be taken through exercises that will help you learn how to best motivate your dog during training, and how to help your dog overcome difficult distractions. Upcoming Scent Detection Workshop-For Beginner to Intermediate Teams

This is a 3 hour workshop for beginner to intermediate scent detection teams.

Dogs must be well imprinted on Wintergreen and be on their way to a solid trained final response (TFR) to odour.  We will only be using Wintergreen during searches in this workshop but will briefly go over the imprinting process for other essential oils and students will be given a jar of scented swabs with Pine to continue the imprinting process at home.

Containers, as well as Indoor and Outdoor searches will be included, as well as the importance of start routines, rewards, and training routines to keep your dogs motivated and enthusiastic for finding odour!

Class Size: 8 working spots (1 dog + 1 handler) , 10 observer spots

Friday May 8th 5:30-8:30PM

Pre-requisites for working spot: 6+ months of age.  If your dog is reactive towards humans and/or other dogs, consider signing up as an Observer instead.

DAPP+Rabies UTD, Bordetella strongly recommended.  Please bring a copy of vaccination certificate to the workshop or email it to: info@bfdogtraining.ca at the time of registration.

Prerequisites for auditors: None

Format: 1 session, 3 hours in length there will be a break approximately halfway through the workshop.  Be prepared to work indoors and outdoors.

Price:   Working spot – $90 +HST, Observer – $40 +HST

Suggestions: While a crate is not mandatory, if your dog is used to being crated we encourage you to bring one so that your dog can relax and recharge when it’s not their turn to work and while we have discussions on the search areas and searches themselves.

Please have some way to restrain your dog for short periods of time (crate in your vehicle or in the training hall or the ability to keep your dog safely contained in your vehicle) while we look at search areas, etc.
