Impulse Control for Dog Sports

Description:

Is your sport dog a little too independent, or too much of a “wild child”? Does he not seem to listen to your cues, or get distracted by class mates or other distractions outside the ring? Impulse Control for our sport dogs should be a regular part of each training session, but knowing how and when to do this correctly is critical to maintaining our dogs confidence!

The Impulse Control games for sports dogs are specifically designed to target dogs whose sport involves handler focus (obedience and rally) and/or off leash work (agility, field, scent, etc…). These games will strategically build the dogs understanding of how to make correct choices during training and competition, but most importantly will help the handler recognize and react appropriately to both success and failures in impulse control. The handler knowing how to react appropriately to the dogs choices will build confidence and understanding for the dog, while further fostering the positive relationship between handler and their partner.

Note: Attendees in this workshop must have “mastered” (at minimum) the first three impulse control games presented in the first “Impulse Control” workshop, or have successfully completed equal training with a local trainer well versed in the impulse control game “It’s Yer Choice”.
